Hailed by The New York Times as “passionate and resonant” and by Der Neue Merker for his “cultured singing,” American baritone David Pershall (Marcello) is quickly establishing himself as an exciting and vibrant artist. Recent engagements range from a return to The Metropolitan Opera for Bizet’s Carmen to his role debut as Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci for San Francisco Opera, which was Praised as a “deft performance” by the San Francisco Chronicle. Mr. Pershall also sang Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with San Diego Opera, Marcello in La bohème, and a tour as the baritone soloist in Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, which stopped at Woolsey Hall, Boston Symphony Hall Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, St. John the Divine in NYC and the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. He joined the prestigious Vienna State Opera in 2014 as a Fest Artist, where he performed roles such as Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, and Sebastian in The Tempest.
