Robert Wells (Benoit/Alcindoro) has previously appeared with Greensboro Opera in Porgy and
Bess, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Le nozze di Figaro, Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto. A
Greensboro audience favorite, he has portrayed Sir Joseph Porter (HMS Pinafore), The Modern
Major General (The Pirates of Penzance), Ko-Ko (The Mikado), and the Lord High Chancellor
(Iolanthe) with Greensboro Light Opera and Song. Wells has been acclaimed for concert
appearances in recital and oratorio in the United States, Great Britain, Italy, and China, appearing
as soloist in, among others, Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem,
Pärt’s Passio, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, and the St. John Passion of J. S. Bach. A sought-after
master class clinician and active choral conductor, Wells is currently Professor of Voice and
Coordinator of Voice Pedagogy at UNC Greensboro.
