Greensboro Opera and the Glenn McNairy Branch Library presented “Winter Pirate Night,” a lively and interactive community event that invites families to set sail on an evening of music, imagination, and swashbuckling fun linking arts to literacy in our community.

More than 80 children attended this free event, designed for neighbors of all ages. Together, Greensboro Opera and the library brought stories and characters to life through engaging performances, hands-on activities, pirate ship selfies, and high-energy musical moments inspired by Greensboro Opera’s upcoming production of The Pirates of Penzance, March 5 & 7, 2026.

Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed interactive themed activities, special library selections for storytelling adventures, pirate-approved refreshments, and opportunities to meet opera artists “pirates” and McNairy Library staff who will help guide families through an unforgettable nautical journey.

 

Greensboro Opera is committed to making the magic of opera accessible, joyful, and community-centered. Partnering with Glenn McNairy Public Library is just one way we expose the arts directly to children and families in a warm, welcoming environment where curiosity and creativity can flourish. “Winter Pirate Night” was part of Greensboro Opera’s ongoing initiative to build meaningful connections throughout the Triad and to inspire young audiences to engage in the magic of opera through interactive arts programming.

What a fabulous night of opera, award-winning wine, and first-class dining! Greensboro Opera was delighted to serenade and entertain guests in a fine dining dinner event hosted by our official sponsor, JOLO Winery and EndPosts restaurant on Saturday, December 13th, from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. This special event included a 4-course plated, chef-curated meal with wine pairings and operatic entertainment that guests never want to miss.
